Driving the Fjords

We spent the day Sunday on the road driving through the fjords of Iceland's Northwest corner. The views were stunning. Photos really don't do justice to the scale of the place.

Much of the route traced the outline of the fjords, with many switchbacks. When the roads were paved the drive was quite enjoyable!

Unfortunately much of the time the roads through the fjords were gravel, barely more than one lane, and pretty rough.

Overall, the experience driving the fjords was a great chance to get out into the less traveled part of the country and see some magnificent vistas.
