Dettifoss

This waterfall located in the Vatnajökull National Park is the second most powerful in Europe, and is fed from the same glacial runoff as the Goðafoss we saw earlier in the day.

Dittifoss is the second in a series if falls running through "crater row".

This fall is of the thundering variety, and the way it falls away from the ground into a lower river gives it a bit of an eerie feeling.

There's another fall, Selfoss, just upstream and visible from the 1km trail to Dettifoss. We didn't visit this fall but could see it from the trail.

After the visit it was onwards to our guest house 1/2 hour drive North.
